About Us

Welcome to Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) at the University of Nairobi. We are is a labour union that represents all the academic staff at the University of Nairobi.

In line with the overall mandate, the Union has been founded upon principles of social justice, labour democracy and democratic action and is dedicated to the achievement of greater unity among its members. This is for the purpose of improving their terms and conditions of service, standards of living, social responsibility and empowerment, bringing fairness and dignity to the workplace and ensuring academic freedom and social equity at the University of Nairobi.

The Union has adopted the founding principles, and recognizes a need for organizing and collectively bargaining on behalf of its members for the purpose of attaining its objectives.

To this end the Union acts as a bargaining instrument for its members, unites and assembles a progressive coalition based on the founding mandate and speaks on the public policies and issues that affect the lives of the academic staff at the University of Nairobi.

Chapter Chair (Ag)

Dr Richard Bosire is a senior lecturer at the Department of Political Science. He has previously served as the Chapter chair and Permanent Rep of UNESCO in Paris.

Chapter Secretary

Dr. Maloba Wekesa is based at the Department of Linguistics and Languages, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He has previously served as the Organizing Secretary of the Chapter.

Dr. Murage Njagagua, CPA(K),CPS (K)

Chapter Treasurer

Dr. Murage Njagagua is a Lecturer at the Department of Finance and Accounting, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences. Dr.  Murage is a Tax and Financial consultant and has served as an Accountant & Administrator in various organisations.
