Good afternoon UASU Members.
This morning, 25th Nov 2025, UASU alongside sister Unions KUSU & KUDHEHIA, honored a meeting convened by the Council Chair with the University Management Team in attendance. As a rule, UASU will always be ready to meet our Employer and University Management in the effort to resolve our internal issues. The invitation to this meeting did not indicate an agenda. However, we put our agenda in the meeting thus:
- Despite signing our Internal CBA 2017/21 in June 3rd 2025, the Council has yet to process this CBA in readiness for implementation.
- The Council is in breach of labour law having exceeded the timeline for processing this internal CBA.
- UASU remains committed to having tangible results for members and every meeting MUST move towards achieving the same.
The take away from the meeting and I quote verbatim from the Council Chair…”I am committed to listening and resolving matters as raised by the Unions”.
As UASU, much as we appreciate having such open discussions with the Council and Management, we reiterate the same mantra that we did during our concluded industrial action…”Our members don’t eat letters and promises”.
